Billie Mack Goolsby passed away into his Savior’s arms on Monday, June 11, 2018, in Springfield, Mo. Bill was the son of Willie and Francis Goolsby. Born on Aug. 18, 1929, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rochete Goolsby, and daughter Leslie Gail Barger, and first wife and mother of Leslie, Margaret Elaine Yarborough Goolsby.
Bill was a registered safety engineer with the majority of his work in heavy construction and drilling operations. A graduate of Texas A&M, Class of 1959. Bill was inducted into the International Drilling Hall of Fame in June of 1980.
He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler and was very involved in the John Childs Sunday school class until his health necessitated a move to Springfield, Mo., to be near his family.
Bill is survived by his granddaughters Ashley Hutchens, her husband Jason Hutchens, and Andrea Plank, her hus-band Vincent Plank, and great-granddaughters Sophia Grace Plank and Lillian Grace Plank, and his son-in-law David Barger.
Graveside service and burial will be in the Faulkenberry Cemetery (at the Pavilion) in Groesbeck on Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m.
