Mattie Mae Trantham entered her heavenly home on May 8, 2018, at the age of 82. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 10, at Northcrest Church of Christ with Mr. Robin Wright officiating. Interment was the Mexia Cemetery. Bryan Trantham, Bradley Trantham, Russ Trantham, Ryan Trantham, Nathan Haddick and Collin Stubbs served as pallbearers.
Mattie was born August 4., 1935, in Henderson to Milton Tol and Lou Berta Hawkins Fuller. She grew up in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School, Class of 1953. Mattie worked for eight years at the Brown Clinic, prior to working and retiring from the Mexia State School after 31 years of service as Personnel Clerk. She also worked part time at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home for several of years.
Mattie married the love of her life, Russell Trantham, in Mexia on October 22, 1955 and they were blessed with two sons, Stephen and Michael. Mattie dearly loved her two sons but when the grandchildren came along, they truly won her heart, she was always so very proud of them. Family was very important to her, however, it extended from her immediate family to church family and beyond – she loved everyone. She also had a very special companion that she thought the world of, Little Bear.
It was evident that Mattie loved the Lord and she was strong in her faith. She was a longtime active member of Northcrest Church of Christ.
Mattie was not only known for her friendly outgoing personality but also for having a great sense of humor. Mattie loved her hometown and former classmates. She looked forward to their class reunions and made every effort to be attendance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 46 years, Russell Trantham; and brother, Roger Fuller.
Mattie is survived by her loving sons, Stephen Fuller Trantham and wife, Cheryl of Mexia and Roger Michael Trantham and wife, Cindy of Allen; grandchildren, Bradley Trantham, Bryan Trantham, Russ Trantham, Ryan Michael Trantham, Shelby Trantham and Ellery Trantham; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
