Audrey Berdine Kennedy

Audrey Berdine Kennedy, 88, of Mexia passed away May 25, 2017 in Groesbeck. Funeral services was at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 28 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with the Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment followed in the Mexia Cemetery with Chris Kennedy, Jody Kennedy, Jack Richardson, Zack Richardson, Landen Frazier and Bryce Rand serving as pallbearers.
Visitation was with the family from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Audrey was born Oct. 25, 1928 in Independence to Willie and Millie Pohlmeyer Schroeder. She married her loving husband, Vernon Kennedy, on Jan. 12, 1946 and they were blessed with three children, Jerry, Kenneth and Frances. She lived in the Mexia area for 70 years, most of those years were in Forest Glade. Audrey was strong willed and a hard worker. She worked for the Mexia Textile Mill and retired from the Mexia State School.
Audrey enjoyed traveling, cooking, sewing and embroidering. She also enjoyed eating out with friends. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. Audrey was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Mexia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Kennedy; brothers, Dover and Glifford Schroeder; son-in-law, Ronnie Carter; step-sons, Elmer A., Erby Lee and John M. Kennedy.      
Audrey is survived by her three children, Jerry Lee Kennedy and wife, Barbara, Kenneth D. Kennedy and wife, Brenda and Frances Carter; grandchildren, Leanne Richardson and husband, Barry, Julie Frazier and husband, Edward, J. J. Rand and husband, Keith, Rhonda Ross and husband, Mark, Shandy Samaniego and husband, Brigido, Carlos Carter, Jami Carter and wife, Lindsey, Chris Kennedy and wife, Brandy and Jody Kennedy; 23 great-grandchildren and another due in July; sister, Bernell Dimousch of Brenham; brother, Roger Schroeder of Brenham; step-daughter-in-law, Judy Sims; step-daughters, Louthera Mayo and husband, Gene and Marcell Kennedy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
