Richard Lee Woods

Richard Lee Woods was born in Woodville on Oct. 22, 1952. He was at his home in Grand Prairie when he left us to join his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on May 20, 2016. Although he was a three-time cancer survivor, he passed quietly of natural causes.
A graveside service will be held at Tehuacana Cemetery on Thursday, May 26, at 11 a.m., with his nephew, Brother Rich Kaszak, officiating. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 6- to 8 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home.
Richard’s family came to Mexia when he was 7 years old, but he always called it “home.” He was a member of the Mexia High School class of 1971.
Richard loved people and made friends easily. He was an avid classic car enthusiast, having completely restored/ street-rodded a 1940 Ford Sedan that earned him many trophies.
He made a career in auto parts customer service, always eager to go the extra mile to help someone in need. He was forced into an early retirement due to a debilitating back condition. That only enabled him to start an online business, supplying hard-to-find replacement parts for classic cars.
Although he and his wife, Vicki never had children, they surrounded themselves with rescue pets: dogs, cats and even birds.
His wife Vicki, preceded Richard in death. His parents Hugh Clem and Betty Woods (Quinn), and his stepfather James Quinn, also preceded him.
His sister Kay Woods Kaszak of Stockton, Mo., survives Richard, as does his brother, Jeff Woods and wife, Cynthia of Terrell. Richard is also survived by his brother, James C. “Bubba” Quinn Jr. and wife, LeAnn of Cedar Park, and sister, Janey Quinn of Wortham. Richard was dearly loved and will be dearly remembered by his extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends. He is also survived by ‘Kota and Rascal, his beloved dogs.
Richard’s eternal resting place will be beside his lifelong best friend, Jan Rudder, the big brother he never had.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite cancer or humane charity would be greatly appreciated.
