John Peyton “Johnny” Sanderson passed away May 17, 2016, in Humble, at the age of 55.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21,, in the Coolidge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be at the cemetery and after the service in the home of Aline Sanderson.
Pastor Shane Norcross, of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Johnny had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had accepted Christ at an early age.
Johnny was born April 11, 1961, in Mexia to John J. and Aline Sanderson. He grew up in Mexia and was a graduate of Mexia High School.
He enjoyed long haul truck driving and working in the oil-related fields. He loved hunting, fishing and outdoor activities, and had a great love for his dogs, over the years, who were his faithful companions.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Sanderson, and his infant son, John Peyton Sanderson Jr.
Johnny is survived by his mother, Aline Sanderson, of Mexia; Donald (brother) and Sue Sanderson of Mexia, Richard Sanderson (brother) of Irving, Brenda Ridge (sister) and Charlie Morris of Mexia; Charlie Short, of Humble, who was his employer and friend; Lori Cook (niece) of Hartshorne, Okla., Tammy (niece) and Blaine Schulte, of Lorena, Jason (nephew) and Angela Ridge of Rhome; and numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Donald Sanderson, Richard Sanderson, Charlie Morris, Charlie Short, Blaine Schulte and Darrell Spurlock.
